There is no Topstein dry food. Topstein has 19 cans and 31 treats, but no dry food. If you’re looking for it anyway, you may know the Topstein name from a bag of dry food from another of our brands.
Where to find dry food
The TOPSTEIN ★★★★★ signature also appears on the packs of Farm Fresh and Crunchies. Like Topstein, both belong to STAZ, a family company from Opava, and both make dry food: Farm Fresh for dogs and for cats, Crunchies for dogs.
What complementary pet food means
The label of every Topstein can and every treat says complementary pet food. That isn’t a verdict on quality but an exact term from the European feed regulation:
- Complete feed is, by reason of its composition, sufficient for a daily ration.
- Complementary feed is sufficient for a daily ration only if used in combination with other feed.
So combine a Topstein can with other food, such as complete dry food. The type of feed must always be stated on the label, so you can check it on any food you have at home.
How to add a can to dry food
Choose by what your pet likes:
- whole pieces of meat: Beef Steaks in a Can, Turkey in a Can
- coarsely ground meat: Beef and Liver in a Can, Meat in a Can – Chicken
- finely cut meat: Beef in a Can
All 19 cans are for dogs and cats of all breeds and ages. They are filled by hand in the Czech Republic, without grains or chemical preservatives. Most recipes are sold in 800 g cans, four in 200 g cans and two in 400 g cans.
On a can’s page you’ll find a table with the recommended daily amount by the dog’s weight. The table gives no amount for cats. When you add a can to dry food, it’s extra food, so adjust the amount of dry food accordingly. If you’re not sure about the ratio, ask Dora.
With a plastic lid, an opened can keeps in the fridge for at least 3 days. Store an unopened one at room temperature. And always make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water.
And what about treats?
Treats are complementary pet food too. They belong between meals as a reward, not in place of a meal. For Stripes meat strips, the amount is right there in the feeding instructions: no more than 10–30 g a day.
